Hesai's lidar range runs from a 200 g sensor for warehouse robots to a 2.2 kg automotive unit that sees 200 m. Which one fits depends on where the objects you need to see are, what shape of field of view covers them, how much weight and power the platform can carry, and whether the sensor has to be automotive grade.
Robots, AGVs and AMRs
Indoor and yard robots mostly need to see what is close: pallets, people, doorways and the floor. The JT16 and JT32 weigh about 200 g and cover 360° from a small cylinder. When the robot also has to see above itself, for shelving, ceilings or overhanging loads, the JT64 and JT128 spread their channels over 95° vertically, from just below the horizon to straight up.

| Model | Channels | Field of view | Range at 10% | Weight | Power |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| JT16 | 16 | 360° x 40° | 30 m | 200 g | 4.3 W |
| JT32 | 32 | 360° x 42.6° | 40 m | 200 g | 7.5 W |
| JT64 | 64 | 360° x 95° | 20 m | < 265 g | 7.6 W |
| JT128 | 128 | 360° x 95° | 40 m | < 265 g | 8.4 W |
Mapping and survey
The XT series is built for accuracy: ±1 cm typical ranging accuracy and a full 360° ring. The XT32M2X widens the vertical field of view to 40.3° and weighs 490 g, which suits backpack and UAV mapping. For millimetre-level scanning, the MT has 3.5 mm range precision in a 300 g housing.

| Model | Channels | Field of view | Range at 10% | Weight | Power |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| XT16 | 16 | 360° x 30° | 80 m | 0.8 kg | 9 W |
| XT32 | 32 | 360° x 31° | 80 m | 0.8 kg | 10 W |
| XT32M2X | 32 | 360° x 40.3° | 80 m | 0.49 kg | 10 W |
| MT | –* | 320° x 30° or 60° | 64 m* | 300 g | – |
* Hesai does not publish a channel count for the MT, and lists its ranging capability without a reflectivity.
Autonomous vehicles
The OT128 is the 360° long-range sensor, with 0.1° horizontal resolution. The ATX looks forward over 120° from an automotive-grade housing only 30 mm high. For the blind zone close to the vehicle, the QT128 covers 360° x 105.2°, and the fully solid-state FTX covers 180° x 140° from a corner or a side.

| Model | Channels | Field of view | Range at 10% | Weight | Power |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| OT128 | 128 | 360° x 40° | 200 m | 2.2 kg | 29 W |
| ATX | 116 | 120° x 18.3° | 200 m | 355 g | 10 W |
| QT128 | 128 | 360° x 105.2° | 20 m | 0.7 kg | 12 W |
| FTX | solid-state | 180° x 140° | 20 m | ≈ 180 g | < 6 W |
The QT128 reaches up to 50 m on more reflective targets. The FTX also comes in a 140° x 105° version with 30 m range.
Check the coverage before you buy
Field-of-view figures do not show whether the sensors you pick cover the space you care about once they are on the vehicle. fovlab, our free FOV Coverage Simulator, draws the covered volume for a sensor layout in top, front, side and isometric views.
